The project
Ministry of Information and Communications Technologies. MinTIC's Virtual AI Microcenters program promotes public-sector innovation and democratizes access to AI through digital spaces accessible nationwide. It also encourages the development of technology skills to strengthen digital transformation while ensuring equitable access to knowledge.
Thanks to this support, we now have an innovative tool that allows residents and visitors to discover our department's tourism offerings in a simple, dynamic way. AntonIA provides information about points of interest, routes, activities, and municipalities, helping promote Boyacá as a tourist destination and connecting local businesses with visitors from around the world.
Sandra Milena Urrutia Pérez, Secretary of ICT and Open Government, Government of Boyacá
The challenge
The AntonIA map viewer, based on generative AI and interactive maps (Google Maps), overcame the limitations of digital platforms for promoting tourism in Boyacá. It integrates tourism databases and breaks down language barriers, connecting local entrepreneurs with domestic and international tourism. A replicable model for sustainable development.
The solution
The solution was developed on Google Cloud Platform using microservices in Cloud Run, Firestore, BigQuery, and Cloud Storage. Vertex AI and Gemini were integrated for the conversational agent, alongside Google Maps, Places API, and Waze for Cities, delivering scalability, multichannel access, and real-time geographic visualization.
Project results
The AntonIA geographic viewer strengthened tourism promotion in Boyacá, becoming an accessible, multilingual, georeferenced tool. It improved the user experience by facilitating access to reliable information, while showcasing destinations and strengthening the sector's digital ecosystem. It thus promotes more dynamic, sustainable tourism in the region.
